Shame it was abandoned, great job on those tiny sprites, and the background is fab as well.
That means having only one colour that can be changed in the multi-colour sprites and still having a limited number of designs/frames for the humanoid characters (because I designed these as 4 different classes - thinking in practical terms for an RPG and having to work within memory constraints). So The zombies are just the human characters but with pure white, grey or green skin, while the living humans would have light red, light brown or dark brown skin.

to me the zombies are a bit hard to read. i cant easily identify a human vs a zombie. it takes a bit of time to define the two
keep it up!
The people sprites are very readable which is very impressive for the four wide-pixels or so width on them. :)
Reminds me of Mad Max for the NES
