Hm, sel-out wasn't the intention but I guess it's what happened haha. It's pretty unavoidable to have black outlines look kind of jagged from the outside without breaking it up a bit, so I guess that was where the second outline color came from.
I'm not particularly concerned about dark backgrounds since I really have no intention of putting this on any sort of background but... I think I'll continue touching it up anyway, and maybe do something about the lines.
Thanks for the advice again :U
I don't think you need the sel-out, that'll just look weird on dark backgrounds.
It does look a bit banded at the top now, I don't think you needed to add the second layer of AA. How about AAing with different colours depending on whether the area is in shadow or not? Nothing says you need the dark AA colour in the top part, you could just use a lighter one, instead of AAing the AA xP
Hey, thanks for the advice! This is honestly sort of old so I never really considered returning to it but your advice prompted me to challenge myself a bit and fix it up.
Too-dark AA aside, the outline was a bit jagged as was, so I tried softening it with a dark green (removed a color elsewhere to keep the color count the same). I'm pretty concerned about the AA on the outline looking a bit banded now, but I think it looks better anyway.
Your AA colour on the outline is is so dark that it just reads like part of the black outline rather than AA, makes it look even blocker than the original line would've looked. I think a lighter colour would help. It might be worth introducing a new colour for, if you don't want to change the mouth-colour. If you must keep the colour count the same, I would replace the grey AA on the eyes, since you could use one of your greens for AA there.
So much slime right now :D
