Here's a little fix.
The main problem in your flame is that it's very ragged.
Flick is starting to go up and then just disappears.
It's backpack. Protagonist is traveler, besides it's necessary to explain to player somehow why inventory is rather large. Okay, in that case I will try to improve readability of backpack. Maybe details like pockets or straps will help.

the one thing I don't understand is the red band on his back in many mockups. is it a backpack? a shield? an amorphous blob? it has major readability issues and creates a very problematic sihouette for what I assume is the player character.
