I've been thinking about wallpaper, but the concern is to make it look like wallpaper instead of something else. I suppose that would be dependant on the colors. I'd have to really figure that out.
Hue shifting sounds interesting. I might look into it.
Time period would be, maybe mid 40s? Early 50s? Right after the war? If I have a detective character, he'd have been a soldier.

I don't have a character for it, I was just working on a tileset for fun and decided to make a mock-up with it.
I'm gonna put some more work into the tileset. Maybe add some more colors. Offset the large amount of brown.

I feel like I should clarify that the pants shared the same colors as the jacket, and that I reuploaded this current version, with the beige pants, a couple of days ago.

Maybe I could change the colors on the pants. He does look like he's wearing a uniform, and he isn't supposed to be.
Also, I tried to put the light source someone in the upper left. I agree that the highlight may be a bit off, but I'm not sure I want to sacrifice where it is to put it on the other side of a blaster.

As you know, when you submit pixel art, you are given options for a "small file" and a "large file".

You have a good start with the envelope, but it is only part of the challenge, you see.

The envelope, you must submit as the "small file".

But you must also create an image inspired by 100 yuan (the yuan is the currency of China.) This image, you must submit as the "large file".

Reminds me of the SNES version of "Shadowrun".

It's pretty neato. I know it was for some sort of challenge, but I'd like to see it expanded!

This is a great envelope piece for the challenge, and I like that you've made a detailed border. It's a nice piece.

However, I believe that the challenge requires an actual note (as in, a bill in the style of 100 yuan), the "envelope" being used as the "preview" for the image.
