I love this. This is such a clever idea for the challenge. I hadn't even thought about how it related to the process of making traditional art. The whole thing is the sight-size observational drawing technique packaged up as an 'illusion'!

@Trigonomicon Its pretty impactful. To be honest the colour change helps sell it a lot as well, I think. If they're all exactly the same it is easier to see through it.

@Cyanmou thanks so much for the critique! With the strong blue skin tone I'd kind of intended the host to be ambiguously human, but that's no excuse for drawing mistakes! Much of these weren't intended. On the other hand, I do have excuses for some of this. The main character, as a sort of avante garde grande dame, was loosely based on Virginia Woolf, who is a woman with a surprisingly long face and prominent jaw. Her arms are intended to be older woman arms with the soft flesh hanging loosely away from the atrophied muscle at the joints, but I agree, it's lost too much structure along the way. How I render the dress definitely needs rethinking and I'm going to upload a new version with at least a little more clarity what's going on there and with the jacket worn about the shoulders. Some of the other problems require more of a major overhaul ,so I guess I'll have to consider how I deal with that.

@trigonomicon Okay I absolutely failed on reading comprehension here. I don't think it makes sense to remake it, so I might leave it as is and opt it out of the weekly challenge.

@QueenKami thanks! I think the challenge is really fun. The palette I ended up with in the end is quite nice if a little dark in general. I might do some more work with it in the future.

This is like the setup in a early 2000s physic engine demo before they all hit the ground in a big mess (at which point you don't want to be standing straight in front of them). Very believable pespective and shading on the barbells.

@Trigonomicon yeah there was a bit of cut and pasting involved in the background but it looked kind of awful so I went in and changed it up. There are still a few cloned heads in there if you look carefully.

@Omegan's_Domain The palette and the rules of the challenge have resulted in some really nice effects that I think people wouldn't have necessarily gone with otherwise! I like how the steambot came out too. I might have to do some more with it in the future.

Just found this again after the secret santa stream. I forgot how good it was! Really amazing storytelling and great colour choices.

@Weerdmaster Yes, I'm glad it came together in the end. It started very texturey and after coming back to it near the deadline I simplified everything down with some big shapes, which I think it what makes it work.

@Umbohr Thanks! It was good we had a month at it. The early versions had a lot of colour kind of everywhere.
