I see, thank you for your comment! I'll try to avoid that next time.

I kinda figured that, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to alter the palette because then it wouldn't be a legit off-the-Gameboy color scheme then.

The jeans' color contrast seems a little too strong, from the blue to the greyer middle color, but this is really nice!

Very cartoony, hehe. However, the weakest part of this portrait is the helmet. The green highlight does not match the rest of the helmet's grey. If the helmet palette was focused around a more green-grey mix, it would make more sense to have that green hightlight then. Without some darker detail all around it, it feels flat.

The column-like dithering also makes a muddy effect because of the obtuse amount of colors. I'd also like to note the very square mustache in that the way it's colored, it looks more like a rope on his lips than a hairy tuff of... facial hair.

Keep at it though!

This is good for a start, but there's plenty more you could have done to this piece. Namely, you definitely need a solid color palette for the bookcase. A third color would have allowed you to create more detail, and 4 colors altogether lets you do even more.

There is also a lack of light source due to there being no determinable palette. With only 1-2 colors for each portion, everything seems very flat.

Personally, if I really wanted a bunch of books to be in a bookcase, it'd have to be much bigger than this to allow for more colors. But I think that's a huge challenge that shouldn't be tackled just yet, as well.

Overall, it's alright but needs more substance. I suggest looking over these tutorials that I've gained something from, because they might help you too:

These are really cute, though I feel that Zelda's and Groose's face shapes are too sharp. They would probably benefit more from a little antialiasing to smooth them out. Ghiram's hair also lacks some definition in comparison to everybody else.

Overall I like these!! I need to play my Skyward Sword game sometime.
