It's because Pixel Joint gave me an error when uploading the small pic. This was supposed to be the thumbnail, oh well...

@RuriRuRo

Glad you remembered to post your critique XD

Well, as it stands out, your pixel art style is completely different from mine, so I might take what I find interesting and suitable for this style (I'm not trying to critique your work, I'm just trying to gather what I think it's best for his piece)

- You might be correct about the hair. I might work on one more iteration for it

-  Regarding the white. I think some of the were suitable, like the underwear and the holster. The helmet felt a little exaggerated for this particular piece that I worked with, I might take that into consideration if making changes. But I have to agree, the white is flat.

-Yep, that's one problem that I have when making stuff that belongs to a curve. But thanks for  pointing it out and correcting! The arms look much better.

- My friend also asked this question and I thought it'd make sense. The cartoon mouth has an outline, but this is pixel art and... yeah, I might drop that outline. I wanted to make lips, that's why there's an outline, but it might work better in and out.

- You mean replaced by others in the same palette, right? This one is a little difficult for me to imagine just by looking at your piece and comparing it.

- The AA is definitely something that I need to improve.

Thanks for the comment! It helped a lot. The only thing that me and my friend thought that was weird in your piece was the teeth placement. He has stray teeth like I showed in this piece. Is this so bad to people? O.o

Simple, but very effective. I really dig this one. Loved the pallete and the curves are very subtle.

@Lone Scout

Totally agree with the weapon. I might work on another iteration of this one just because of it. As with the body, I tried to work with the limitation of three tones of red (being one of them the original tone of Zero), but I'll experiment around to see what if it looks cooler, I know the new hair color looks better.

Thanks for the comment!

@Lone Scout

Thank you for the comment! When I designed this piece, I was thinking of demake sort of thing, at first I just wanted Faith, but then I thought of other elements and ended up thinking: "What if Mirror's Edge was released on old PCs?". Of course I didn't look into palletes and etc since I didn't want to limit myself just yet, but you get the idea. Now regarding the critiques:

The shading was already criticized before by some others. This piece was intended to be the first one uploaded to pixel joint many months ago (almost a year actually), since it wouldn't be considered "cheating" and since I don't have many pixel arts to show yet. Overall, I think the shading is quite decent since the only thing I had done before this was Derek Yu's tutorial and animating tiny characters for game prototypes. The black shade is something that I'll definitely take into consideration for future pieces. And I'm even taking into consideration now with the current pieces that I'm working on.

Regarding the posture, it's a classic Faith posture, I might have not done the transition well to pixel art through your eyes, but I've spent a long time without seeing this piece and don't see quite well where I might have failed. Perhaps some visual reference on how to make it better would help (?) Here's the link for the model

Regarding the background, this was an art based off Mirror's Edge and this game is a little bit... too plane. I tried to minimize the colours since it would have ruin the vibe of the clear blue sky I was looking for. I remember trying several different buildings but they didn't cut. One thing I didn't try, though, was to add clouds and, perhaps, a Sun (or some sort of different light rays). Again, coming back to the first paragraph, This was the first pixel art ever made, adding those stuff would probably be ugly made by me now and even uglier back in the day.

And yeah, I really appreciate your time to write the words for me. I'll take the black shading (as I've seen it's indeed harsh) and work better with it and regarding other things, I hope you can clarify. I'm really new to this thing and could definitely use some advice. Thanks a lot!

This is really really cool avatar XD The resulting animation is completely uniexpected. I "stole" it as my avatar cause it sort of looks like me (at least while I don't upload my own profile). Nice one!

@TrojanMonkey

Thanks a lot for this critique.

"no point making individual teeth at that res, just draw one line of white or don't do anything at all."

Regarding the teeth, I was inspired by some of the art of the show and mostly what kuso said made sense, he has those broken teeth, they seemed to fit so well with the character that I just left there. Most people (non pixel artists, common people) noticed the teeth as  something positive and recognizable for the character. On the other hand...

"Imo, drop the lines on the hair. One of the first lessons regarding hair is not to treat it as individualistic strands, instead -- look at it as one group with mounds and valleys"

is totally valid for me and I truly accept the changes you've made to the hair. It improved a lot. Hair is always a problem for me when pixeling. (or even making drawings on paper.) So I'm updating the pixel art based on your suggestion. And I'll definitely check about negative space. Thanks again for the comment!

Edit: small typos

Yeah. That was my first thought when I decided to make this crossover. Thanks for the comment!

Looks great! I really liked the vibe that almost felt like it took me from where I stand. The fact that it is animated is definitely a big plus.

Wow! This is really beautiful! The sky behind the clouds, the city... Everything looks great!

It's really pretty. I know you wanted to keep fast and simple, but one more shading iteration might have made it perfect.
