I really enjoy the dreamlike atmosphere you've got going on here! It has a really nice watercolor feel. I think you've nailed the tone. I see a few people saying it feels unfinished, but I think that's what lends it the dreamlike feel to begin with. I'd definitely play a game done fully in this style.

It was originally made for a one-hour pixel art challenge :) I just did a little bit of polishing after the fact, but it was never a piece I was going to spend a huge amount of time on! I just wanted to make something cutesy before moving back to a larger piece that I've been working on in a more long-term sense. A very very WIP preview, if you're at all interested, of said larger piece: http://i.imgur.com/fCPewv4.png

Heh, I can definitely see what you're talking about! And no need to apologize there, I don't think it's a *bad* thing, per se. :P There are worse things than having created a pastel mortal kombat horse thing, I am sure xD

This is gorgeous! I've always loved floating islands as art, so an archipelago can only be even better :)

Larger scales tend to feel more satisfying to me - I also like working on pieces that I can come back to months later to improve upon after having dropped them for quite a while. I've done some things at smaller scales, but I tend to get bored and feel as though I'm not improving as much when I do :P

Hmmm, might look a bit better if you tried avoiding the pure blacks and whites. I notice you did this one the rightmost sprite, which I think looks better. I tried just quickly turning the whites into VERY LIGHT colours and the outline on the ghosty one into a dark brown-red; the difference is subtle, but I think it'd look better on the whole.

Are you sure you used the right palette? This looks MUCH too desaturated compared to the palette provided.

On the whole, this is quite lovely! However, the hair is a bit noisy compared to the rest of the piece, making it feel out of place. It draws the eye when it's not meant to be the focus. I'd make the hair a bit less noisy to fit in with the tone of the rest of the piece.

I feel like the style of the mouse and of the background are a little conflicting. The background is highly textured with lots of dither. The mouse is very flat-coloured. Neither one is bad, but I'd either tone down the background (particularly the grass) or make the mouse a bit more textured, I think.

Looks great! I've watched your progress on this piece a bit over on Pixelation, and I have to say you've done quite a bit with it. I'm impressed by how far it's come!

The rocks look great! The melting animation seems a little weird, though. I might add a couple other melt trails or something just so it doesn't feel *quite* so cyclical. It might not matter in a game context with other features around, though.

This is absolutely adorable. I love the bounce to it!

Thanks a bunch! I think you might be right about the leaves. I played around with the contrast a bit when I was making it, but I do rather like it looks with darker shadows on the leaves.
