I'm trying to do some 32x32 grass and dirt tiles...  Any thoughts on what I've got so far?

They're decent.

Just as a preference I always make multiple versions of each to avoid as much pattern tiling as I can.  Though I admit pattern tiling is often unnoticed by people who don't sprite.

Yeah, I'd make more dirt tiles at the least. Those tiny little rocks would create very awkward zigzags on a larger scale. D:

Point taken.  When I see it on a large scale, it's pretty clear that there's a lot of repetition.

I think the dirt looks wonderful aside from the tiling issue. The grass looks nice too, but I'm not really sure a single round tuft like that would get much use? Maybe try making an honest-to-goodness tiling grass tile.

The tuft was just an experiment, mostly to see how my grass would interact with my dirt, and get some comments.  I'm planning on making a set of tiles out of it, particularly since it seems to have gone over fairly well.

I've done some more work.  Added a new dirt tile, and pretty much every necessary corner tile.  Here's what I have now:

How's it look?

edit: added a plant

I've updated the grass a bit more, which hopefully gives it some more depth.  Obviously I'll have to redo all of the transitions, and have some variation tiles as well, but I think it's coming along.  :)

I'll be leaving the dirt mostly alone (except maybe for creating some more variation tiles).  It seems to be going over fairly well.

Thoughts?

Your corner tiles look like, well, corners :)
You could try making them a bit smoother. I think you need two types of corners...

How's this?

(and a variant with more contrast:)

I kind of reverted back to the older grass pattern, but I added some highlights to give it more depth.  Note the rounded corners. :)

Looks better. First one also looks better than the second one imo.
