![]() Topic: Having some issues with color palettesPosted: 09 October 2011 at 10:31am |

Hello, and sorry if I bother you.
I always wanted to make a game with my own sprites but I found some issues when I was designing the palette I would use for them. They may look silly but I can't ignore them because I'm not experienced enought. 1- Have I to make a color palette for the whole game or I can use differents color palettes (by example: one for each world & one for each monster)? 2-How many shades I should use for each color? 3-Is a good idea using pure black or pure white in the palettes? I hope you can explain them to me. Thank you. |

1. so long as you're not working within the restrictions of a specific console (NES, SNES, C64, etc.) then you don't need a global palette, it's completely up to you.
2. depends. depends on the style you're going for, the amount of detail you want to convey, the amount of detail conveyed in the rest of the game elements, etc. 2. depends. depends on the rest of the colors used on that game element, the style you're going for, etc. |
