   Just to clarify: transparency may only be used outside the template, where it is mandatory? Or may also be used inside the template, but is only required outside template?

EDIT: 5 minutes of doodling, early WIP.

	CHALLENGE: Radiant Orchid The colour gods at Pantone have ordained that the colour of the year is Radiant Orchid. So, this week, the task is to use that colour within the orchid shaped canvas shown below. You can pixel anything you want, you can even just pixel an orchid if you want to be really boring. Canvas Size - Use the template above. Colours - Max 18. Must use the colour above (#b163a2). Transparency - Required (only outside the template shape though). Animation - Optional. CHALLENGE RULES Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox. Only new pixels allowed. Open to all members. Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART. CHALLENGE JUDGING Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged. Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries. Winner announced the following week. CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy. Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet. 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter. No matter what happens you get challenged :) CHALLENGE VOTING Vote now for your favorite pixelart in this week's challenge! 	I'm not breaking any rules by using different colors, am I? Is this supposed to be strictly a chiaroscuro work? Anyways, rough idea. I feel like I need to work on the over all flow, and it still needs a lot of refining. A lot.

	One day passed, and there's amazing entries already. Especially the first one that was submitted. Anyhow, when I saw the template, I immediately though "UFO with a gem on top". This is what I have so far: The blue is actually a background layer which will be deleted when the piece is done. I tampered with shade blending in a style of that Robot wants to play piece (which inspired me since the robot is made of metal, and so is the UFO thing I'm making) [s]and plan on adding dithering once I'm done with that[/s]. But I need to do something about the gems... I want to make them reflective and somehow add a glow feel to them. Any ideas on how can I do that? EDIT: Figured that I can't add dithering to this kind of shading. Anyways, progress: Edited by Eggy - 07 January 2014 at 8:44am

	ok heres my WIP & first shot at a competition.. 2 or so hours so far including dinner break. next time i shall begin working on it earlier ;) its cross between a chameleon and a pig it would appear.. my brain went into a strange place it would appear... also how do you submit it?
