Hey guys. I hope you don't mind that this image is not a pixel art.
Art is art, right? Especially when it comes to game art.
I am a beginner and I want to improve. If you could help me, I would be grateful.



What should I change/make better?

I know there is a lot to improve, but atm I am focusing on finishing his right hand. I find his hand pretty boring, I want to add something to make it more interesting. I consider adding some plastic tubes with green fluid. I should stick to some better palette, though.

One more thing. Should I be working with smaller canvas, so I would not have to focus on every small detail?

Right now this is pretty hard to read, is that an open mouth? Are the eyes open?

Those are the types of things to consider, readability for the viewer

About mouth, eyes. Well I didn't finish those, because I didn't know if I wanted him to be more evil or childish.

Is the blood on the ground again? Because right now, it looks like it's falling - if it's falling, it's the wrong shape.

I think your line is a bit thick for the right arm. Why not make it a shadow instead, keeping the outline thinner?

Still working on his right hand, though. I think I'm almost there, but it surely needs more improvement.(Head of the hand isn't done yet.)

Blood was supposed to be on the ground, is it better now?

Trying to detail his left hand now, so I can compare them.

I want to get cracks on his arm. I would be happy if it looked like lava is moving in his skin?

I am not sure about the colors I've chosen. I think I added too many pixels and it isn't clear. I will fix it tomorrow.

I've dropped the "lava/cracks" idea. Trying to achieve some samurai armor look now. It doesn't look that bad, does it? Need to make gantlets now. I will probably redo his right arm after that:/

Sanurai armor looks pretty good.
There is one problem with whole sprite - outline.
There is outline on head and half of torso but there's no outline on arms.
Try to make it either without any outline or with outline everywhere.

Well it doesn't suit him at all. Need to think about something else. Also I think it can be problematic that his skin is red and armor is also red (atm).

I want to make a high collar too, but as you can see it's not finished yet.

Made his head a bit smaller.

I feel like his arms wouldn't be in front of his body. Know what I mean? The lines are ahead of the body. I think they'd be next to or even behind a little. Awesome improvement, though!

Blue thing under his head is an ascot tie. There is also a small collar(the brown thing). He has also a chauffeur hat.

I don't know how to shadow his face properly, neither do I know if his accessories look any good.

I'm getting tired of this character and want to start something new. On the other hand, dropping this I will not improve and I'd love to finish it.

Any thoughts?

Btw. Using db's 32 palette. I really like it so far.
