[Sorry second post here about an old game in a row]

Images from the Gobliiins trilogy (1991-1993). I loved these games and their art growing up (and I still do like some parts of it); but undeniably looking at it now some of the issues I had with that game as a kid were caused by...lack of shading and bad shading.A lot of the non-interactive objects in the environment rely back on REALLY lazy color-reduced gradients, etc.

Still there are some things I like about the style; the WTFery of the subject matter being one, but also, the style of the eyes; how 1 pixel thick areas are handled (especially teeth, mouth full of one pixel teeth looks wicked jagged).

So I thought I'd ask what you can salvage from this style while getting rid of the bad/lazy. Be willing to try to make an orc using magic this week's challenge in the style...or try to...not sure where to start though.

[Wasn't sure where to post this. O_O]

Backgrounds looks like pixelart with no palette restrictions care. I wouldn´t be considered pixel art here.

Sorry for bringing back an old topic, but I just noticed this, and weirdly enough I was referencing images from these games just yesterday. I was a huge fan of this trilogy, back in the day, and the art style definitely influenced me. I was trying to capture some of that feel in this sprite:

This, too, to some degree:

I quite like the art style of the goblins games, but it's definitely crude art. I'd love to see it more refined.
