If you mean when you have a running convo with someone else then if the other person deletes a comment from you then they will not be seen but the convo does continue.

oh, I see.
click the PM link to the person and if they have not deleted a comment you sent you'll see it.
You don't have to actually PM when you see the convo then leave the page.
