Now I’m working on a new illustration inspired by the film AKIRA (1988). This one will also feature an augmented reality layer, so I’ll be delivering it in multiple layers (just like I did with The Fly).

After several sketches, I’ve locked in the concept: the scene will have three distinct layers,,, a foreground filled with rubble to add depth, a midground featuring Tetsuo with his infected arm in an epic pose, his cape long and tattered, and a background of a post-apocalyptic Neo-Japanese city at sunset. I want to keep cinematic lighting, with subtle yellow bounces on one side and reddish tones on the other.

I haven’t finalized the palette yet. I’ll be posting progress updates and step-by-step shots here ..your feedback is incredibly valuable to me. In particular, I’d love suggestions on palettes or anything you think could elevate the piece. I’m aiming to have the illustration finished by October.
