Ok if you bother to look at this please respond:

Are you allowed to get a picture off google, minimize it, clean it up shade it in and consider it your pixel art?

if its traced yes, but dont just rescale the image, put it on a lower layer in photoshop or something and then draw over it so all the pixels were placed by you.

take note to give an url for the reference/original art

well it looks like its drawn with flash so i printed it out, traced it, scanned it, resized it and cleaned it up. Thats ok right?

If you merely scanned, cleaned up, and traced their work, then no. If you looked at it with your eyes while drawing your art, it is okay.

Hm, tracing is fine in my opinion - as long as you give a link to the original image. EDIT: d'oh. Snader posted pretty much the same thing.
I guess it's up to the mods/admins, they decide what gets approved.

reference material is a useful tool, filtering the image to simulate pixel art and claiming its original is not good though. Placing ref material is always a good idea.
