also i'm gonna try to keep avatar updates in the first post just so you can see the progress side by side it's my weirdo way of organization

my avatar type thing.

i have updated the avatart thing i took out the heart cuz hat was just a space taker upper thing cuz it was kinda bare but yah i got the direct link to so here it is =) i tried to redo some shadeing on the sword and wound up redoing the rose all together and after all that it doesn't look much different. tell me what you think thnx

the only other thing i don't like is the top of the rose looks wilted but w/e

EDIT:kk sory i'm restless i wasn't getting any responses so i went and tweaked a lil and got this

i thhink it lokks a lil better the moon kindof helped with the rose but the sword still looks of... thanks

Some quick things:
-more contrast is needed, it's difficult to tell the colours apart.  This will be important for adding further detail, as BOB already suggested
-the font colour is very difficult to read on that blue
-I think this needs a bit more balance, it seems a little random right now.  I did a quick shuffle, it's not great but it might give you some ideas

oh, just a small pro tip: use the direct link feature of imageshack. it helps us to zoom your picture with the forum scripts.

Don't forget the sore wrists and bloody eyeballs. 

Seriously, just relax and take your time. And these things will finish themselves before you know it.

Use references.

Let's take your rose for example - the stem is perfectly straight, it has one single leaf, which is perfectly straight and symmetrical and perpendicular to the stem.  Nature is much  more organic, there's rarely straight lines, there should be good flow and movement in the rose, not just a red oval on top of a green line.   Look up images of roses on google, sketch it several times until you think it looks realistic and then try to pixel it.

Size doesn't matter all that much, pixels can be photorealistic - even on a small canvas.

It'd help if your posts in this topic included the corresponding update so we wouldn't have to scroll back up and read the edited date to see if you've done anything new. Also, having images makes bump posts like your most recent one tolerable.
