Hi,

I'm just a beginner in Iso Pixel Art but I try to create a contribution for PixelDam.

Here it is :

It's the "Arc de Triomphe" in Paris.

Any comments are welcommed !

And I've a little question :
at the end, I use a little filter (a small blur) to make the construction look older.

Things like that can be done in Pixel Art ?

See ya...

Any filter (a blur would definitely fall under filter) is not considered pixel art at all.

Pixel art is pretty easy to classify... each pixel should be placed by hand using the pencil tool. Basically if the tool isn't in MSPaint then it's not a valid tool for creating pixel art. Brushes, gradient fills, filters are all a huge no-no when it comes to pixel art.

OK, thanks for the quick answer...

So, here's the True Pixel Art version of my Arc de Triomphe :

I would be happy to receive comments before sending it to Pixel Dam...

Thanks in advance !

Ah! mais c'est très bien!

petite question, on dirait qui'l manque un morceau sur le coté gauche vers le haut.

translation;

Ah! Very nice.

there looks to be a peice missing on the left side of the structure.

En fait, il ne manque rien, c'est la vrai qui a des "trous"...

Mais c'est vrai que je devrait peut-être être plus précis à cet endroit...

Merci beaucoup !

trans:
In fact, nothing is missing, the real one have the same "holes" !

But I should probably be more precise in this area !

Thanks a lot

Look the real one (my reference picture)

Dammit! I'll just post a picture

There we go.

1ucas, I think you're right, I didn't work enough on these points. They're too geometric...

I'll try to improve this...

Thanks !

it's not that they're too geometric, it's that on the "outside" corners the border clearly is 3d and sticks out, but on the inside corners, where we should be able to see this by seeing the top of the border like the top of a long rectangle, we don't see anything but flat 2d design.

Is this thing on sand? I would give the ground more of a grainy look if it's sand. Some texture for it would be nice. Bricks, grains, anything. That'd look nice. :)

GREAT job by the way. I love the detail on the building. :)

I love that you didn't use outlines on the arch, but it makes the ppl look "off". I'd try to match them better to what you did with the building (sans outlines). Also that chain fence around the monument seems very harsh. The bas-relief sculptures just look amazing. :)

I see that thing, but it didn't shock me because, usually, ppl in PixelDam are outlines. So I choose outline people to better integrate the city... (even if the construction is not outlined !)

Thanks for the bas-relief...
For the chain, I probably have to work a little more on it, to make it more flexible...

In fact, it's not on sand, but on a sort of ground made of stones, but I've no precise photographic reference for this point...

Bye...
