When are we going to get ranking points for spamming the forums too??

and when are we getting a bonus for donating our dollars to PJ? ;)

Something that would be nice is default zoom. When your viewing at highish desktop resolutions you'll always have to zoom to appreciate the pixels. So it'd be nice if you could set a default and save yourself having to manually zoom on each pixel you view.

It'd be cool to see how each individual piece ranked score-wise. It shows you how many people favored a piece, but not how many rated or what the total score is.

Even if the powers that be don't want to show scores, it'd be nice to get the position in the total population of pixels as ordered by score (eg. "Ranks 1454th out of 17017 active pixel art pieces"). You can already find this out with a bit of work paging through the highest rated pixels anyway.

How about cleaning up the gallery's a bit, by removing all pieces automatically from pixel art with an average rating under 2 dots, at least 2 years old and the artist not logged on for atleast a year?
That way alot of old and ugly pixelarts, that would not get trough the queque these days get removed.. we dont need them anyway...

Be able to rate directly (show the rating bar) on a member's gallery page, like you can on the new pixels page.

all you have to do is go to the highest rating personal gallery, there its possible..
to find it, click on someones profile, and then click on the right on the number of pixel arts. there you can rate easily..
for example my gallery is here: http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp?owner=9092&ob=search&dosearch=1

I'll just copy/paste what I said in the chatterbox.

I agree with ska here, job posters know nothing about the ways of PA, it's why they're here to hire us, otherwise they'd be doing it themselves.

The only way that idea would fly is if there would be one of three categories to choose from when signing up:
Artist, makes art, submits to gallery.
Viewer, leaves comments and can rate, but that's about it.
Job offer(er), kinda like the viewer but has a custom page under the profile for "positions in need of filling".

The artist would have to fill out a quick anti-troll form, while the viewer would not, and job offerer would fill out the mandatory company info and save the mods the headaches when posting in the Job Offerings forums. But then that might create whole new problems all on it's own. So it's kind of a mixed bag making a caste system on PJ.

Probably not the best idea, but a thought nonetheless.

Would it be possible to move the zoom buttons above the image in the gallery? Right now they're below it, so whenever you zoom in/out the buttons move. If you put the buttons above the image, they'll remain static, and no need to move your mouse for multiple zooms in and out.

What about a counter which shows you how often a specific piece of your gallery was visited?
like on deviantart. shouldn`t be hard to program.

Folding up the styling bar by default, at least for editing submission text. Having it unfolded seems to sometimes cause a problem where the entire text box becomes read only -- you can move the cursor and highlight text, but not delete or cut. The amount of people that use styling on their submission text seem to be pretty small, also.
absolutely.

The challenges\collabs forum needs a sub-section.

I think that once a challenge is finished it should be moved into a separate sub-forum "completed old challenges" or something along those lines.

Because I was just looking around for a nice collab to do, and there's 50,000 challenges to sort in between actual collabs.

I believe the about us page really needs to get updated or removed..

http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/aboutus.asp

Same should for the links to the icons on the bottom of the home page, maybe even the tutorials http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/tutorials.asp and the downloads http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/downloads.asp and all other traces of the old website, since pixeljoint is a community website and its quite confusing for new members to have parts loose from that.

Souly, learn to like the Pure Joy, its awesome

Reo, I remember that post, but as far as I understand there was not really a system before that too right?
Anyway, that system can still come, it might be usefull.
Enabling artwork to have 2 or more artists, that appear in both profiles but that have just 1 id, 1 rating, 1 comments page etc.

Yes, that would be cool!

I think there should be a member award that shows that you are a mod. Not only you guys deserve awards, I did not know who were the mods when I joined PJ...

Should be great that when we are exploring the Public Queue (Beta) gallery and click in the  "More from the Gallery" link the site redirectionate me to the Public Queue (Beta) gallery again and not to the Weeckly Showcase or the famous pixel arts.

Is it possible to maybe put the "quote of the moment" somewhere at, or near, the top.

Sometimes I forget to scroll THAT far down. >_<

I know there's a link for Active Topics but is there a way to see new posts since last visit?  On some forums where I've been away for a few days that is a HUGE time saver.

afaik, the appearing of detail images in a popup only works while voting for the weekly challenge. when i look at older challenges, and the submissions made to the actual challenge, i need to open all pieces in a new tab/window to view them! that annoys me a little bit.

then, i would like to see what piece i already marked as favourite. it would save me some clicks ^^ and would just be.... informative.

i would also like a counter how many times a piece/my profile was visited.

and i would really love to know how many people have voted so far in a challenge. would make great stats about user participation. anonymous, of course.

Is PixelJoint still being actively developed? I ask genuinely, not passive-aggressively. It seems like there have been a lot of issues and things over the years that have just been lying around with a lot of promises to fix them but no real action being taken.

Again, not trying to be snotty or rude; the site and forums are wholly usable as-is, but things seem stagnant from the outside looking in. Don't even know who's on the dev team. Obviously sedgemonkey, but is he even around anymore? I know Ensellitis was, but he's gone, I guess? Is pixelblink?

I understand what it's like to pour dozens (hundreds?) of man-hours into a project that you will charge nothing for. The userbase has no right to demand anything of you, but it'd be nice to at least know who's actually working on what and, occasionally, how progress is coming.

[EDIT] Not really what I was trying to address with this post, but it'd be nice if there were a sticky listing the admins and developers. The "Moderator Roll Call" could be modified to include this.

We should added this amazing ajax based collaboration demo that is fully open source and would be amazing if we had this. It would need quite a bit of modifying to work with our setup but I think it would be a excellent addition.

So any chance we could get the zoom buttons moved to the top of the image rather than at the bottom where they currently are? I've suggested this before but nothing ever happened with it.

It would be extremely useful as it would allow us to zoom in and out without it offsetting the buttons and having to find them again.

On a side note, seems whenever I click a link to pixeljoint I'm never signed in.

A wiki might be a good way to solve the issue of how to display and organize content about PA.
Users could feed and maintain it without too much trouble for the mod team, apart from setting it up.
I understand there are wiki engines or whatever around the web, just waiting to be used.

Maybe this has been suggested before - I did search and did not find.

I know that at this point suggestions are nothing more than a conversation with a wall, but... *shrugs*...here we go anyway. XD

It'd be nice if there was a subforum for completed challenges, this way it would be easier to find collabs.

Also it seems I already made this suggestion before. X_X

this new iteration of pixeljoint is a bit shaky with Firefox, a few days ago it seemed like it worked just fine again, but now I can only see the first page of a gallery...and I have to see it over a white background, what's up with that?

I think it'd be awesome to have a DLL which could plug in to different pixel programs allowing artists to submit their pieces to the public queue directly from their software with the current login cookie from the default browser.
Edit: I also think it would be nice to have a program symbol by your username in posts/submissions which shows what program you use/used.

The new Google search is really bugging me. Being able to see previews is incredibly important when you're trying to search art, and the current search is simply not useful without them. I'm having to use Google images to search PJ right now, and that's a pain in the ass because sometimes it returns stuff that isn't in the galleries. Is there any way it can be made to use Google images instead of the regular search results?
