![]() Yesterday I was reading about my color problem, but until today I will be able to fix it.
Maybe there's something wrong wit my comor settings in photoshop. This is what I have:
*Working Spaces*
RGB: Adobe RGB (1998)
CMYK: Japan Web Coated (ad)
Gray: Dot Gain 15%
Spot: Dot Gain 15%
Is there a problem with my color settings? or maybe I have to check my "Save for Web & Devices" settings?
Thanks in advance I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my settings which are default are: RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 Gray: Dot gain 20% Spot: Dot gain 20% Anyways I don't know what the problem is but your colors were very different (usually with more saturation) than the original ones. Here when I replace all of them this is the result: ![]() But please check these yourself once more because there may be results you won't like. Edited by Gecimen - 24 May 2011 at 7:13am |

@Sergiotron, your profile default setting are off. Try this:
Go to Page 1 Post 1 and download the main image (or the palette since it has the colors and HEX values). Open that file > drag/drop your tile > See what dialog box comes up. If your settings have profile warnings checked then it will tell you the profile differences. *I'm almost sure my settings are also: RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 Gray: Dot gain 20% Spot: Dot gain 20% Edited by jalonso - 24 May 2011 at 7:25am |

Step by step:
1. Open te main image => Missing profile alert => Leave as is (don't color manage)
2. Drag/Drop my tile => (/) (not allowed becouse indexed color mode)
Do I have to change the color mode in the main image?

Step by step:
1. Open the main image => Missing profile alert => Leave as is (don't color manage)
YES 2. Drag/Drop my tile => (/) (not allowed because indexed color mode)
Select All then Drag/Drop (this bypasses) Do I have to change the color mode in the main image?
You could do this. Change Mode to RGB then the drag/drop will be seperate layer. *You are just trying to determine the difference between your PS settings and a file we know if good. |

With no file open at all change your settings to this:
![]() Check the 3 boxes with the 'Arrow ??' Then open the files. Those 3 dialog boxes get really annoying so turn off after you are done. |

I still have a problem with Photoshop
![]() When I open the main image, then open my tile and then copy/paste it, Photoshop changes some colors. I don't know why.
This is the result

Do the colors change on the original or your tile?
*I encounter this issue from time to time too so don't think its just you. A cheat for this is to have an 'empty file' on your desktop which is all pixel friendly (for example, any file in cure's gallery (the monster's sheet is good)will do as his files are technically output perfect, level balanced, etc.). Then whenever you are going to pixel open that empty file, change the canvas size as needed and 'save as'. Then start pixelling. This insures anything you drop into the file automatically adjusts and converts...I do this all the time because I use PS for many reasons and not always pixel work. This just keeps me from having to 'think' when I'm feeling creative. Edited by jalonso - 24 May 2011 at 10:08am |

Maybe for this piece you can study the water already in the collab so your tile fits into the whole pic.
Looks nice, good layout. |

I really like the rocky part of your tile. |

The first issues that come to me are:
1-These edges are too corner-ish and not anti-aliased 2-The waterfall shouldn't have a corner I think. ![]() |

@Justincredibl: Awesome :)
you could put some rubble on where the green and blue walls connect. Or maybe some Hellenic coloumns or King Tombs engraved in the wall? Edited by Gecimen - 27 May 2011 at 3:15am |

@ekobor; yes definitely you've made progress. Maybe you can AA the streaming water on the rocks. Apart from that you can add something interesting in the tile if you wish. Maybe only a palm tree and a camel?

@ekobor, your tile is looking better but I think the problem is with the lack of shadows defining the terrain. Plus added contrast would go a long way in helping defining things as well. I did an edit to show what I mean...along with camel and palm tree per gecimen's request. (I couldn't help myself)
![]() The rocks/cliffs in the back could benefit from the same shadows as well. ![]() EDIT: Nice to see my finished tile added finally. And why I'm I still "noob in chief"? Who running this racket anyway? ![]() Edited by dpixel - 28 May 2011 at 11:54pm |

Y'know, I always find it so neat that someone can change so little of something, but make it so different!
I'll definitely take more shadows under my hat, you've given me some further direction that I want to explore -nodnod- Edit: ![]() I tried to bring out some of the contours that I was imagining using the method of shadows you put down, as well as darkening the rocks and hopefully making them stand up better. I'm still playing with that waterfall, but I just noticed that, between my tweaking and IvanM's edits, the river doesn't match up anymore(not hardly!). So I've left that off for now. I'll be back to it, but it is break time again. ^-^ Edited by ekobor - 29 May 2011 at 10:47am |

@ekobor; that's surely much better, the mossiness of the rocks make them more realistic. Again I think you should add something interesting.

![]() I matched the edge up to IvanM's. I want to add something interesting, I'm just not sure what. The camel and palm tree might just end up being it. I was thinking of trying to show shimmery fish under the water, or making the water different in some way, but water and I just don't get along at the best of times. We'll see what I come up with; I'll be back at it after work tomorrow. {e} I am reading a book about werewolves. That should explain the "interest" I felt like adding: ![]() Edited by ekobor - 30 May 2011 at 11:57am |

I've got one little thing to say,
The sand texture on the lower right side, don't you think it's too empty? That pure yellow area stands out as a line when I put your tile on the main picture. |

![]() Anything I do past this appears only to make the line more noticeable. There is enough of a disparity between my tile and the one directly to the right that easily meshing something as finickity as sand appears to be beyond me. I hope this is acceptable, despite being only a minor adjustment? |

@ekobor - I tried to notice the line Gecimen mentioned, but I noticed a few things. First, the tile is too large by 2 diagonal lines. Second, the river doesn't line up.
