About the tank: something is up with the front of the treads. Whatever angle you're trying to get at there didn't work. The tread in the back is bigger than the one in front. It looks weird because the slope comes down at a wide angle.
About the flamebug thing: I see the head goes down but when the flame comes out for about 2 frames it comes out straight. and yes, I think it bends too quickly. It should riccochet and make a clear impact on the ground, and maybe curl inwards as it sweeps the ground. Edited by alkaline |

Yeah, you guys are very right. I was cheap and edited the original straight fire by bending it by a few pixels. I'll edit it soon.
About the tank, i dont really understand what you mean by the treads looking larger at the back and the fronts looking weird... But i do understand that it looks like shoes... i'll have a go at changing it then. Btw, new weapon for Rustbug in production. |

I'll just see if it changes after you edit it. Maybe you could color in the metal on the cannon a bit further as well, instead of all that solid brown?

Hehe, the gravity gun will be a very nice feature for the game, I think that anyone would love to shoot orbs of gravity that attract and fling around the enemy. Its just a fun physics simulation, like a swing or something. :D

Yeah you shoot balls of negative energy and all the enemies are sucked into the shots ad are compressed into nothing. It's real scientific!

I notice that on the tank, you have the closest side curved.
And on the furthest side it's a straight line. |

@Alkaline: Already did after i posted the latest tank wip. Thanks though.
@+DA+: Look below. @Demon: Yeah actually, the idea has sorta grown on me. Less of an energy orb idea though. I like Bifur's tractor beam idea, which the Rustbug could swing the enemy around with and/or save allies or retrieve items. @P_O: Lolz. The whole black whole idea though, is a bit hardcore methinks. @Souly: I feel quite foolish, but i still don't understand which part you're talking about. Perhaps someone could draw a huge pink arrow on it to show me? I'm sure there is something wrong but i'm still in the honeymoon stages with the tank so i'm not noticing the problem... lol.@Bifur: as said above, i like the tractor beam idea. Not so sure about the random lighting thing. Cheers for all the comments. Update: Now... that took freaking AGES. (Ok, some things. I know the dust/smoke/crap moves in odd ways. It looks cool though, so yeah... And um, i need to know whether i should keep the flamethrower nozzle or create something different. Oh yeah and perhaps it should go slower too..) |

Lookin good, man. Maybe do like you did with the flamethrower and make an ambient light reflecting from a small area of Rustbug's front. I like Monkey 'o Doom's idea about having a radioactive tagged cylinder.

Gasoline sprays out.
Thuis gravity causes the fuel to fall to the ground And as you raise to let the trigger go the spray goes up and then falls down in an arc. The trail of fuel from the gun to the ground is what lights on fire. |

Okidoke. I tried some different nozzles. First was the yellow and black warning stripes, but that didn't work, then i tried the biohazard sign, but it just looked silly being so small. Then i just used this nuclear one which looks best really... Also added ambient lighting... and touched it all up a bit more:
@Souly: Yeah i get ya with that. I'll have to redo most of the flames, so i'll probs do it later tonight. |

Thanks guys. B_p, yup i was greatly influenced by the style. Shark, not so sure about the spraying because it's more of a puff, although i will give the flamethrower such an ability. What's with all the text language? >.< |

The updated animation is even better now! :D Keep up the good work Larwick. The tank is looking good, but I guess somethings on it are a little off. Update on the programming side, the game is looking good, I'll put up a new screenshot later today. Enemies are now featured in it, and rustbug can jump on them to destroy them, for now to show that the collision detection and reaction was working. :D |

Aaah lol, sorry Demon, already did it. I think i realise now what you guys were saying. Was it cus you thought the front was too wide? I mean, well... i spose it is a bit too large for the perspective... although when you look at the rustbug it seems fine. Maybe it's the cannons fault, the hole at the top could be a bit wider perhaps.
@iSTVAN: ^_^ Gee wizz, thanks alot dude. @snader: yarr, i was thinking the reflection could be a bit OTT but owel. Rustbug rabies. @Demon: Yey for progress again. Hope to give it a go sometime soon. @Souly: look above...dun dun DUUN. Edited by Larwick |

Ok, this is the reason i didn't straighten the closer line. Because it was seperate from the other part. Of course, you wern't to know, so its no fault but my own. If anyone can guess what's inside the hatch (apart from a man who's been pressing a sequence of numbers every 108 minutes for 3 years) otherthan Quickie cus he already knows then you win... something not-so-amazing but better than nothing. MoD: The floating tiles are simply there to test out the collision detection, so they are temporary. I dont even know if Larwick wants floating tiles for any/all levels.
Quickie: Ya, thats because the original sprite images are 1 or two pixels from the bottom of the image, I'll just have to go in and shorten the images. Not really a big thing. I think a playable demo would be possible in the very near future, just keep an eye out on this thread. :D Edited by Demon |

Reallly not digging the ground tiles. My brain can't help but see them as sloped upwards toward the back wall, and so my mind gets confused as to why things are hovering. Of course, I've no helpful suggestion as to how to IMPROVE it, simply whinings. Oh, and I nominate we make this the ON-TOPIC thread and keep posting in it foreverandever, 'cause this stuff is awesome and if we don't stop commenting, maaaybe Larwick won't stop creating. Which would be awesome. |

@Carp: Because i'm THAT good.
![]() @Demon: Yeah, no floating platforms for the ship level atall. There could be higher platforms in other parts (such as a pile of scrapmetal or a cliff or a different route in a cave) but no 'floating' ones, as it wouldnt suit the style for this game. @Saboteur: I see what you mean, perhaps with the dark line above them it would look better, or i could give a darker shadow under the first sticky-outy-bit which should get rid of the seamless flat look of it. ANd Lolz On-topic. @BtG: Yeyz...! |
