Hello pixeljoint community,

I just would like to get some comments and critiques for the following sprites:

I was inspired by the sprites of Serious Sam: Random Encounter. Any suggestions on what to improve?

Greetings

Awesome! nothing needs improvement cept the highlight of the pant in rear view where the butt should be highlighted not the calves. Minor nitpick is to bump up the darker green a bit or make the lighter green slightly on the yellow side of green for more dynamic lighting.

K, it needs some minor things but still awesome.

Thank you for your fast answer. Here's an update and a first try on a walk cycle:

Here's a tiny addition to the sprites:

The sprite suggests a thicker and shorter neck, no?
The portrait is otherwise terrific.

I've also tried a short necked portrait but it doesn't look good. And a long necked sprite version wouldn't feel right in my opinion. So I think I will stick with the current combination, I guess.

Oh, I like that much better because it matches the sprite better. This smaller/thicker neck make the torso read huge like the sprite has.

Another update:

I don't like the walking down animation yet. Any c&c?

@jalonso: You've convinced me. I will use the short necked version. ;)

edit: the animation is also not polished cause I still don't like the movement

Hi Occillo,

sorry, I didn't animate the up walk yet. Here's another small update:

Thats fine, I was just pointing it out incase it was a bug.

I like the change to his bandana. Maybe darken the detail in the face, its hard to see his features at the moment.

I also made an up walk animation now: movement

The house in this flash prototype is inspired by this one:

Thank you for your comments so far. I was busy creating some rough prototype kinda flash application:

rough zelda like prototype

Note: If you download the *.swf on your computer and run it from there, you'll get a better looking fullscreen mode and a working camera.

Some graphics are just placeholders! The flowers for example need a complete overhaul. Nevertheless: C&C is always welcome.

Cheers

Hi Friend,

okay I might try to emphasize the nose but I am more concerned about the look and feel of the animations or the switching between idle and walking.

BTW: I forgot to mention that you can pick up those bushes in the bottom left area by pressing "A".

Here's a small overview of the most important graphics I am seeking C&C for:
