Hi, I'm looking for a free or cheap 2d map editor. I've tried a few that I've come across, and so far mappy (also known as "map editor") seems to be the best of them, but it giving me problems with transparancy - if I load in a png with transparancy, it still uses some color for the transparant pixels when I put them in a top layer with onion skin enabled. So if someone can suggest a tool, or tell me how to fix the problem in mappy, I'd be very gratefull. Otherwise I'll have to write my own map editor, which will set me back at least a few days, or weeks if I want to do it right. Oh, it should be able to export to a format that I could easily use/convert, so something like xml, csv would be ideal. Thanks! |

What platform is the game you're making for? |

Flash. I need multiple 24x24 layers, with onion skin. I tried your editor before opening this topic (well, the demo version), but it went to a very low resolution on my pc, and when clicking on "load tileset", it crashed. But I may be doing something wrong. But I guess it only supports 16x16 tilesets since it's aimed at the gba? I did find out how to set transparancy in mappy, so that problem is solved. Now I only wich I could use onion skin on more than one layer. |

This kind of setup (using meta-tiles) would be very useful for GBA, but for flash, I don't honestly know. If you like, I'd be happy to chat to you, and help resolve any problems you have with using my Level Mapper tool. I am considering renovating it, and makng it more accessable etc. So it'd be great for me to get the feedback. Good luck with your game in any case! |

Well, my main suggestion would be to use a standard windows interface. I hate it when programs go full-screen and refuse to use the resolution I set on my computer. It also means people have to learn your interface, instead of being able to use a standard window menu etc. I think that if you did that, your program would sell a lot more.
