No moths yet. No flame either. I think I'll be going for a little animation.
Man I suck at clusters.
Okay looking a bit better now. Added the border to make it easier on the eyes at least while it's still a WIP. I always loved the idea of the picture 'bleeding' out too.

I'm not sure if it's proper advice, but I'd try to bring the blue down into the foreground foliage so there isn't such a stark separation.
Maybe make the sky more of a gradient with it being a little darker at the top.
Edit: The trees in the background don't really blend with the style of the foreground, either.
Is the lightsource in your image the same as in your reference?
