The BG is nice and the zombies too.
However they don't seem like the same world.
I think this is because the BG is higher contrast and outlined and the sprites are lower in contrast and not defined.

The sprites are always more important :)

The front sidewalk should not be thin like that. This perspective call for both being the same, no?

Love the zombies !
Especially the ones with only a dot in a cavity as eyes & bloody fingers.

The background has nice textures but it might be a good idea to find a way to make the charaters & important objects "pop" from it.

Using very different colors or adding an outline might make them more easily discernable from what's behind them. Adding outlines might also drive you crazy because it creates quite a lot of banding :p

I thought the same thing... with the cartoony look of the characters, I'd expect the background to be more stylized and "off kilter". Less 90 degree angles.

I changed the background colors giving more focus to the zombies.

The run cycles you made quite nice but not very zombie-like, they look very human. Maybe adding more chaotic movement to the shoulders and arms can do the trick.
But as always in gamedev, it really depends on how much time you want to invest in this :)

A great reference for running zombies would be the movie "28 Days Later" : the zombies are basically rabid humans running around in very chaotic manner. Their arms are often dragged by the speed of their movement as if they were lifeless/broken.

I can spend a few more days to make the change in animation.
I really had forgotten such reference =) (by the way a great movie).
Thank you very much for the tip.

I feel like your backgrounds having dark outlines and your characters not having outlines at all clashes poorly against each other, but they both look good on their own.

At first I really did a test , but I do not like to put a line around the character, seemed dirty , I do not know if I did wrong.

But thanks for advise ^^

The finish line(?) looks weird to me because it's not in perspective, while the rest of the background suggests some sort of perspective. Suggesting at least a little bit of perspective, even if it isn't "correct" would help them fit into the scene.

You 're right, " the finish line " is actually a laser tower, but I had not noticed that the perspective was strange , between the asphalt and the tower ...

I will try to fix I'm still learning this part of perspective.

Thank you so much ^^
