On the 30th I will have been here for a whole year, so to celebrate I'm making a PJ-themed piece, with various familiar PJ faces. So far I have Brian and Larwick: Obviously I'm adding other people too. I was going to have Sedge in the middle behind the sign, and everyone else hudled around the sides. The lighting is going to be similar to the Super Mario piece in my gallery except the entire floor is going to be one huge white light, with a starry night sky above. |

Small update: Is the leg better now Larwick? I added sedge, blick and alkaline. I tried to turn Brian and Larwick into marionette dolls controlled by sedge but the strings looked horrible, so I'm just going to keep his arms outstreched as if he were trying to kill everyone with his B.O., lol. I was just wondering is blueberry pie's fish disc shaped or spherical? Next I'll probably add snader, jalonso and Ensellitis Oh, who can spot the subliminal message? Heheh. ------------- |

Update: Added Snader, Ensellitis and Jalonso (stood dangerously under ensellitis' foot, lol). There are a few things I need to work on with jalonso though; he doesn't look right to me right now. I tried to make snader look all cool, but I might've gone over the line and made him look a bit gayish. I still have yet to add everyone, and I definitely won't be able to finish this in time, but better late than never I guess. ------------- |

 Solve all your emo problems by receiving a good old kick up the arse, courtesy of Snader! Heheh, just kidding souly, keep away from those razors! So anyway, that's Shark on the back of the rustbug (with his current avatar character) pointing and laughing. And I've changed jalonso to be standing up. I'll add his bulging eyes when I colour it. I was thinking of having blueberry pie as the moon in the sky. (hey that rhymes) Also, the bottom looks empty and the only reason it's not cropped is because of alkaline's burger. Should I crop it and move the burger elsewhere (losing the joke)? I really think trying to fit people into that lower gap would just end up with a kind of crude composition. Next I will add someone on the left gasping at the sight of jalonso. Probably MoD. Also: I really want to actually do that "floor = light" idea I mentioned, but I don't know if it would really work out well. Does anyone have any ref pics where the entire floor is lit up? I'm definitely putting the main light source underneath but I'm considering just putting strips/rows of lights or something. Plus: there are quite a few people who I'd like to put in but I don't know how to represent them. For example Faktablad. Damn I just realized, I could've done SplatPixel as a marionette doll controlled by sedge. ------------- |

Well I've started colouring. I've worked on two version so far, one with my original lighting and one where the PJ sign is lit up as the strongest lightsource with extra little floor lights along the bottom. This latter version is much easier and looks better so I'm going with that. I'm thinking that in order to make this look good I'll have to use a higher colour count than I usually do. I hope that doesn't effect people's view of it, but I just don't want to over-comprimise colours. ------------- |

Another update before I go to bed: There are certain things which really make me want to indulge in extra colours, for example I hate the dithering on snader's t-shirt, and the dithering on rustbug makes it look all roughly textured (I don't want to use "segment" shading or whatever you call it because I really want to go for a 'smooth' style), but I feel bad every time I introduce a new colour. Gah! With blueberry pie, a lot of the detail would be sub-pixel. I'll try and fit more detail in there; I suppose as this progresses I'll have introduced more and more colours, so I'd probably be in a better position to do the subpixel detail there with the extra colours available for aa-ing with. This is why I usually prefer to keep aa as the last thing on a piece... except as you can see I have already aa'd certain parts of this; I just can't help myself, hah! Also, I think I should thank Ensell for the image hosting, it's very convenient, thanks mate. ------------- |
