Something about Elmo in his/her gallery.. but ... I just can't tell, since it requires revision.

this?  oh man there's so many things you could do!  actually, anything you do will probably make this a teensy bit better...  anywho, some suggestions:

- dont use a white background, either make a scene or make it transparent.
- why a stick figure?  the gallery is for your best finished and refined pieces, don't tell me that the best you can do is a stick figure.
- the red thing looks more like a robot than elmo to be honest, work from references and maybe do a bigger version (like 100x100) so you could fit enough details in without overwhelming yourself.

Not to be rude, but my advice is to spend more time practicing you drawing skills.

How about redo it and make the man actually look like a man and elmo actually look like elmo?

Start with making the man more than a stick figure and looking at an elmo picture to see a glimpse of what elmo looks like. For one, elmo's eyes are on the top of his head.

Be careful with your links.

You could use to decrease the piece's saturation and the man needs a body and arms. The ground is very strange and I can't tell what it's representing. Overall you need more detail and better color choices as well as more realistic and interesting shapes and form. I think you could really use a basic grounding in anatomy and drawing as well as color theory and the like. Pixel art requires strength and techniques best developed in other media and that's exactly what you're lacking.

Still doesn't look like elmo. The eyes are ON TOP of elmo's head. Literally.

seriously.  if you re going to do art, you need to learn how to use and find references.  while you are at it, check out some pixel art tutorials and some basic art tutorials.  you need to grasp the basic concepts of art before you can create art, and i don't believe you have yet to grasp them.

Ok I wasn't going to say it, but the whole concept of killing a muppet is something a 10 year old would be amused with. I don't think annyone beyond the age of 10 thinks killing puppets makes one macho.

You don't have to like anyone's art and in my opinion killing a muppet is just lame.

Maybe http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=8652&FID=8 - seakingelebit has a project of muppet mass-murdering... I say let him do whatever he pleases!

However, make a more detailled scene... Maybe bigger, with shadow effects (why not a small animation... It would look nice), a BG... I am sure you can improve it with a little time and effort. Just dont get discouraged.

don't worry about animation yet, because if it sucks to begin with, the animation isn't going to make it any better.

you really need to get it down first.
You  need to make the man look like a man, and elmo like

well... we can't tell you exactly where to put each pixel, so here's a little visual to give you some ideas about the differences between a http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&q=stick+figure - stick figure , and a http://www.dh.aist.go.jp/bodyDB/images/clauser2.jpg - human .

Elmo has sorta been updated, i think he is much more Elmoish, it made a real difference.  http://imagehost.ensellitis.com/imagesv2/5544288350Kill_Elmo.PNG - http://imagehost.ensellitis.com/imagesv2/5544288350Kill_Elmo.PNG

It's better, but you need to give it more interesting features and add in the elmoish details that make the character. Don't be afraid to break away from the perfectly side-on view; it's holding you back more than anything else at this point, aside from the lack of shading. I suggest turning him toward the viewer slightly and increasing the size to something like 2x that you have now. It may seem overwhelming but rendering a likeness at this size is hard even for pixel artists with a lot more experience than you have right now.

I guess if he has to be a real human, he has to be bigger. I guess i'll have to start from scratch.

you don't have to apologize for not being the best pixel artist in the world. No one is. And no one gets it quickly.

Why don't you try some tutorials first? That might give you an idea of where to start. There are plenty in the Resources and Support forums, and I can't pimp http://spriteart.com - st0ven's tutorials here enough.

No worries, save this thread to your favourites so you can go back to it and learn from any mistakes you may have made. Everything's a learning experience. Good luck in your next pieces.

(And geez you guys are harsh sometimes)
