Thanks, I wasn't actually sure if anyone would try this out! I know this isn't a real game (no rules) or anything, but it does feel surprisingly gratifying and fun to see this! And assault rifle definitely has to beat suit of armour. I'd give you a prize if I could.

Thanks, Reo! I trudged through so many iterations of the player sprite, I don't even want to think about him anymore. Trying to fit a more "historical" armour style into the available space was probably foolish, but he does have his intended codpiece, so I think it all worked out in the end.

Right before I started writing this reply I realized I did a study of your "Platformer Mockups" image before I joined here!

That means a lot! I'm especially happy that you thought the fonts were alright; I have no typographical skills, but I knew relying on fonts others had made was stunting my work and artistic growth, so I've begun forcing myself to put some together.

This is great. Well rendered, and animating just the flames was a subtle, intelligent way give the scene a lot of life. Everything else gets nicely coated in an eerie stillness. I both love and hate that it is so faithful to the original as to still have the heart icon touching the letter P.

I've enjoyed your work before joining this site, so this feels pretty surreal! Thanks for the encouraging welcome! I'm finishing up the preview for my next submission.
