Thanks for your comment WreX. While I understand where you are coming from (and in fact the piece did look a lot like your edit at a certain point), I made a concious decison to scrap that and to allow the lighter blue to dominate. Letting myself have more fun with the piece, just going wherever the texturing took me. Now if I had more time I would've pushed the values in the immediate bg cliffs darker, rather than the far background as in your edit which I think overly flattens it instead. There are aspects that bother me about that part of the scene but more in terms of shape and design, simply no time to go over it a third time before christmas though. But I appreciate the feedback.
Interesting piece , the textures of your details are satisfying to see , I like the design of the giraffe and the rider.
The movement of the smoke of the incense or what ever he is holding is really nice with the black background.
I am a bit bothered by how while looking at the bigger picture the values all around the image are relatively similar , I think it should have some distinct areas with darker values that would give the environment more depth.
Here is a very lazy simple edit just to show you what I mean roughly - i.imgur.com/XaPYD37.png.
You are always at Olympic levels of detail with your art, really awesome.
So happy to hear that! Couldn't have asked for a better set of wishes. All the best!
it's absolute striking how clearly each pixel is defined
Looks really cool. WOuld make a great poster on the wall!
I feel like I could lose hours boggling at the texture work here (and I will). It's amazing.
You never disappoint-this is so grimy and disgustingly amazing. Great work!!
incredible as usual! the blue really reads like bioluminescence here, and i love the nasty little guys swinging thuribles
Amazing, absolutely love it, nailed the vibe, decay never looked so delightful
It's taken me a while to try to think what to say about this, and I'm still not sure I've got words to match its excellence. As ever, your mastery of colour and texture shines through. It works as a whole image, but is also very satisfying in the details (which show a whole tangle of decisions I'd never even begin to understand how to make). Incredible work with a wonderful mood.
