Yeah I saw Boogie Nights a few years at a friends place and I was there kinda in shock thinking 'is he actually singing THIS song?'.  The Touch by Stan Bush.  Cheesy as hell but very likable track.

Quick fact: one of the main songs in the original Transformers movie was also sung by Mark Wahlberg in the pornstar extravaganza flick, Boogie Nights. Watch em both again if you don't believe me.

Heh, GI Joe was far less succesful here.  Think maybe it was just too American even though they changed its name here to Action Force (later reverting back to GI Joe at the beginning of the 90s).  Think He-Man and the ThunderCats were the next in the popularity order here  (anyone else seen an episode of the original He-Man recently and realised just how clearly homosexual it really was?  Ain't being derogatory, even my gay friend points it out).  Anyway I have the TF movie on DVD and it still amazes me how dark it is in places such as seeing some favorites get brutally blasted to death like Ironhide (extreme close range shot from Megatrons arm cannon to his head) and Prowl (shot and then we get a close up of his face with smoke coming out of his mouth and eyes) and obviously Prime's death showing his eyes fade, his paint job change to grey and his head suddenly tilt to the side in a disturbingly 'lifeless' manner.

Oh yeah I love the soundtrack.  Pure 80s catchy cheesy metal.  Still listen to it today and the Weird Al song on there is insane...

Optimus Prime was just about the biggest character in children's entertainment at the height of the Transformers popularity in the 80s.  The only show that even came close to rivalling its popularity was GI Joe.  They just have to do that era for this new movie. 

I'm not sure why there's so much heat on the original cartoon movie. I haven't seen the movie since it came out in theaters but I remember totally loving it.

 They keep saying all this over and over.  I'll believe it when I see a decent trailer.  And I hope since its been said in places that the movies based on G1, that it should respect the fans who grew up with the original and not be kiddy trash like the recent Armada/Energon crap.  I don't like that articles negativity about the original movie.  Most of the kids in our class went and saw that at the cinema at least 5 times each.  The death of Prime was just one of those memorable childhood moments.  Oddly enough for a cartoon robot, he was looked up to by kids of my generation almost like a father.  Which is actually very weird now I think about it....
