no it works on ANY tumbler lock.  and you can just buy a bump key, you need to either make one, or convince a locksmith that you should have one, and if you are under 18, thatll be very hard

That is quite amazing, but not so surprising.. It's not hard to believe that it's possible but god, it makes us feel like locks aren't safe ;/.. lol *goes and buys one of the bump keys* 

What I'm thinking is, would it only work in NL or whatever country that was in? lol I'm guessing they don't have a proper security system where those guys live..

lawrence, cards are even easier to bypass than any tumbler lock, all it takes is a simple magnetic strip and a PDA.

larwick, i know what you mean, but the reason they do it is scare tactics in order to increas ratings.  what are you more inclined to watch, a news broadcast that says "how to cook onions, tonight at 11!", or "your not safe, anyone can break into your house no matter how good your locks are, tonight at 11!"  its the same reason jerry springer was on for so many years...

there are actually 2 methods to stopping this from happening to you...

1) glass raiser rods in the tumbler, so when they wack it, they brake, rendering it impossible to unlock, however, then YOU are screwed as well, or they kick the door down.

2) AN ALARM!  a good one though.  get an alarm that runs off battery if no electricity is available, and uses cellular to report problems, not land line.  also, they have glass break sensors, infared, and so on.  and alarms like these usually arent that expensive.

i am personally happy with my rfid lock i got on ThinkGeek, rfid is still fairly unknown to thieves...
