Wired News Reviews New Sam and Max

News Details

"Do you long for the days of PC adventure games like Monkey Island and King's Quest, where pointing and clicking were all the skills you needed to enter worlds filled with knee-slapping comedy and brain-scratching puzzles?

I sure as hell do. But these days, it's a risky proposition to make a point-and-click adventure, which is why Telltale Games has decided on an episodic distribution model for Sam & Max, a hilarious comedy-adventure game."

Ah yes, bring back more of the terrific humorous adventures of LucasArts glorious past. More of the Wired article.

@Dejital:  The genre has always given precedence to dialogue and character interaction over gameplay, but that's perfectly OK with me.

The thing about the new Sam & Max is that it's short and easy. You're given a big clue for every piece of the puzzle and the inventory consists of under 5 items. But it's nice to see a forgotten genre ressurrected, and it's definitely a great game. However, the entertainment here is not so much in the game itself as it is in the dialogue and character interaction.

I'll let you know how it goes Pie.  As soon as I get some spare time reserved I'm gonna burn through this.

Awesome-o. After hearing so many good things about the game I'm even more excited about it. Can't wait for the international release.
