Nintendo's Advent Calender pixel game

I was just checking the Dutch Nintendo site, because today is the Wii release day in Europe (WOWIEWOAH!)

On the homepage I found Nintendo's Advent Calender (created by extra toxic) and guess what? It's a pixel art game!

The game will have 24 levels on  the 24th of December. The first 8 levels are currently unlocked and every new day a new level is accessible until x-mas.

Snake: If you download any of the number of trackers out there you can produce similar music. There's lots of great tracked music on sites like Modarchive that you can download and examine (.mod, .xm, .s3m, .it, etc). Any files in this format contain the complete tracks/notes/samples (similar to .mid files), so you can see how they are made, etc.

The new levels they've released (13, 14) are especially retro in the music department. Plus lots of cool creatures... enemy penguin things that -try- so hard to fly, and huge mammoth things you walk on.

It's amazing how much more atmosphere a game gets with the right music. The tune(s) in the forest stages were great! Need to find a program that can make music like that, or other retro tunes. Really liked the penguins in squirrel costumes. They just crack me up. I feel a little let down by the stages ending, but apart from that it's a lot of fun to play.

Man, the music in the game levels is retro-tastic. Reminds me of early 90's tracked music (mod, s3m, etc). I love it for that alone.

Hey Twizzler, yeah Europe had to wait like 3 weeks longer for some reason then the USA. So finally the wait is over.
