lol, i could rant all day about these new "punk" bands.  they make one album (1 burned cd) with 4 songs, then make a damn myspace page and spam the hell out of peoples comments and get all emo about not making it big.

my brother has been pounding the pavement for years.  they have multiple albums which the paid for, plays every other night, and even pushed their way into playing at the warped tour a few years back, nd they STILL dont have any record deals...

damn emos :P

All I can say is iI REALLY hope it doesn't turn into a bitter-ass place like Threadless.com. Money can indeed ruin it, or at least change it not in the best way

What about featured videos? If a video gets featured on the front page, is it basically guaranteed a handsome check even if the video isn't all that good (believe me, there's plenty examples of those)?

this isn't that much of a good idea. before we know it we'll have a lot of idiots making half-assed movies just for money instead of what all youtube vids are and better off as which is just for the hell of it and also fame.
i also have a feeling this is going to bring along a lot of legal matters between youtube users so this is just going to turn into a corporate tv system like the whole site tries to get away from
