Pixel Art Challenge: 3D Mock Up

From iSTVAN comes this great challenge. Pixel a 2D mock up for an existing 3D video game of your choice.

Must be a real 3D game, not just a made up one. (Ref link in description)
The main character and at least one enemy/opponent must be featured.
3D game can be from any genre (eg. FPS, Racing, RPG etc).
Canvas Size: 180x120 OR 360x240 horizontal.
Colour restrictions: 32
No transparency
Animations not allowed.

TomF: No it doesn't matter if two people do the same game.

Zymn: Yes, I would certainly accept a game like Doom. There has already been a Wolfenstein remake.

oohhh nice challenge idea! i think i'll do soul reaver, unless anyone else is doing that? does it matter if two people have the same game?
Adarias I'd love to see that, I love the style of DC2.

Adarias: The rules don't mention anything about the gameplay, so yes, you can change it if it still feels like the same game.

I cannot think of anything else other than Shadow of The Colossus. Maybe Okami, but SoTC won't leave my mind XP

All games I would like to draw are itselves pixel-arts from the 80's. 90's, and their screen size would match the 360x240 specs... so a simple screen cap would fit in -at leasts, technically- in the rules...

I mean, OutRun, StarWars vector early game, 3D Deathchase from the ZX Spectrum...

in animal crossing there is a lot of competitions like fishing and bug capturing, i can just add a catch meter and ill have opponent :)

@gas13: well, i don't know if the ghost/zombies/robbers that appear could be some kind of antagonist.
@klav: so only games with both 3D graphics and gameplay? hmm.

@met: Ikuraga is on one plane. its a top down, vertical shooter. it's 2d because it plays flat. (left, right, down, up). where is the depth? the backgrounds may look 3-d but you can't travel into them. I love ikuraga, but it's still a bad example of this challenge. think of some crappy game on the 360 like halo or something.

Gas 13. I think drawing multiple characters should be fine, in your case. The idea with that rule was just to make sure people created dynamic scenes.

Walrus, are there any enemies? I was thinking about creating MySims but it seems there's no enemies in the game.

Not sure if we can count other characters as an opponents.

but that doesn't answer my question. what i mean is, Ikaruga is a 3D shmup with a 2D gameplay. but as far as i know, it doesn't have a 2D version -speaking of graphics-. at least not an oficial version(i know there are some flash based versions, but that doesn't count). unless klav means Radiant Silvergun (Ikaruga's spiritual presequel) wich is indeed a 2D game. but even if that's the case, RS is another diferent game. so i don't get what does him mean with "ikaruga is already a 2-d game".

by the way, yes, i was talking to klav... not to Itsvan or its thread :P

Prince of Persia was originally in 2D, I suggest not doing a game that has a 2D predecessor.

I think iSTVAN means that entries with games that already have a 2D interpretation will certainly have a comparison between the official and yours. Like, you gotta challenge yourself not only to make a reinterpretation, but to be different from the already made.

But I do think it was just his advice ;D

you mean it was made in a 2D Gameplay, or that iy has a 2D version. as far as I know, we are speaking of games with 3D graphics.

A lot of the games people are suggesting already are, and in some cases were originally, a 2D game. Prince of Persia, Donkey Kong, Metroid, even Tomb Raider had a 2D version for gameboy.

It is possible to do a great re-interpretation of a the 3D version, but you'll have to compete with being compared to the original.

As for what to do...I'm a huge Metroid fan, so I may possibly do a Prime game. I don't know which one, though, and I hate taking other people's ideas...
