better is different from harder..

imo: the uglier the colours the better the challenge.

For the people saying these are ugly colors:

The first idea was to make people just pick their own blue, red, green and yellow, (hue, saturation and luminance limitations), just a bit like the old roman collab and the other 4 would be free.

Jalonso wanted me to create a palette for it, and so I did. It was done pretty quick, because I was not very interested in creating a palette and that was thisone: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6852/paletbe8.gif
This was than again modified by someone? who changed it to the actual palette.

Now that the challenge is over I would like to hear your opinion: Would it have been better the first way? would it have been better with the first palette, or last option would it have been better the current way, and can you suggest a better way?

excuses

These're some pretty interesting colors to use, actually. Odinno if I'll finish something for this, but the colors are surprisingly not overly difficult to use together. Although that purple-red combo is pretty iffy.

I like this challenge, this one is actually challenging :P.

scary colors

Ps: fool wins with fools colors

PixelSpy (Level 5 Captain) at 9/15/2008 9:20:47 AM
I can see Fool winning this one

Indeed. If the colours are changed into something more decent I'll hapily participate.

while we are waiting for enlightment i'd like to mention that these are ugly colors

Setzer (Level 8 Cannibal) at 9/15/2008 3:24:27 AM
I read it as those colors + transparancy if you need it, but i might be wrong, anyway this one looks like fun

JinnDEvil (Level 5 Sniper) at 9/15/2008 2:33:22 AM
But is there a way to do contrast without white?
'cuz there's just this yellow to do the brightness...

This one will be very hard...

Raytheon (Level 5 Lieutenant) at 9/15/2008 2:29:54 AM
I'm pretty sure it's limited to those colours+transparency and you must used all of them.

Does the white in that picture count for the palette.

JinnDEvil (Level 5 Sniper) at 9/15/2008 2:28:43 AM
I think we can use all the colors we want, but also this 8...
This is a kind of confuse... xD

skamocore (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 9/15/2008 1:40:36 AM
Can we use only those colours + transparency? Is transparency the only optional 'colour'? Or is it just minimum 8 colours? Can we for example use 16 colours as long as we include those 8 colours?

Raytheon (Level 5 Lieutenant) at 9/15/2008 1:21:19 AM
Interesting limitations, some how i think thats gonna knock alot of competition out, but it also might bring up some of the better pixel artists to challenge themselves
