In an effort to celebrate the entertainment masterminds of our industry, your pals at IGN.com com have assembled the ultimate list of creative game geniuses. The list is not complete yet but check it out: The Top 100 Game Creators of All Time.
its a list of the top 100 guys of programing, you know miyamoto is going to be #1. the rest is pointless not because miyamoto has no match, but rather because you can't put someone above him w/o having 90% of the readers burning you alive for not putting him on #1. he's so good he ends being a cliché, as you said. and the fact that its a ranking and not a tribute to the 100 most memorable programers of the history of the industry doesnt really help. even wehn this is by no means to be considered as something serious. some ign articles are fun and even educative(the 25 most dumb moments is so far my favorite) but in this particular one making a ranking out of it was a bad choice.
but its redundant. still, the article could be attacked from every single posible emenet, so i'd rather not take it as soething too serious or profesional(i won't even consider it as a ranking but rather as a nomination of the 100 best guys out there)
I like the comment on the site from the one guy wishing it wasn't Miyamoto because it's 'so cliché'.
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it's not cas much cliché as it is the truth, really. If anyone can think of someone else who tops Miyamoto, I wanna hear it(seriously). A man's effort shouldn't be ignored just because people don't want to sound cliché.
i readed the comments in the article itself(wich ended being pretty boring to be honest, its just a huge fanboy service).
the developers of counterstrike over the people who made half life is hilarious. and the top one being miyamoto was so predictable that i just didnt bother reading after #60 something.
Gabe Newell less important than the guy that made some EA Sports garbage? What a lame list.
i am at 83, but i will wonder if john romero will be included.
