Pixel Art Challenge: Wilhelm Screamer

icon

Design your own fictional creature that makes the sound of the Wilhelm Scream. Try to really think about how the Wilhelm Scream sounds and consider what kind of creature would/could make that noise. The creature must be original and non-humanoid. You may add a background to your image, but it is not required.

For reference, some samples of real life animal noises can be found here and here

Edit: note that the purpose of this challenge is to depict a creature that makes the sound of the Wilhelm Scream (for example, the way a pig would oink or a cow would moo - see links above relating to animal sounds) as oppose to depicting a character who is shown as making this noise because they are in agony.

Canvas Size - Max 256 x 256.
Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

Choose your own response adventure:

  • Then make something that's not a bird
  • Then this is the perfect time to improve your bird skillz
  • Yes you are >_>

256 x 256 is the size of sprays in Valve games, so you can turn your pixel into a spray.

I'm thinking of a cutesy little Chocobo-ish bird with hands, very colorful, big beady eyes and a goofy smile -- with a Wilhelm scream as a mating call. =D

Haha I have an idea, but I'll see if I can pixel it the same way I see it in my head.

Edit: Nevermind, it doesn't work with the rules. Maybe I'll come up with something else.

For some reason I anticipated that it was going to be the Jurrasic park T - rex noise.

Very interesting challenge!

Well it was until I heard the sound, anyways. That sounded very humanoid.

Non-humanoid makes it difficult. I wish everyone luck. :]

Hapiel (Level 11 Admiral) @ 8/31/2009 05:32
