Pixel Art Challenge: Coloured Creatures

icon

Pick one of Arachne's linearts shown in the challenge thread and colour it (don't forget, colouring also means texture/shading etc... too!). Also, make sure you give your newly coloured creature a background.

Links to challenge lineart - [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Canvas Size - Maintain the original canvas size. You may flip/rotate the canvas 90° if you like.
Colours - Unrestricted.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

Meh, linearts are cool but some of them have absolutely no canvas space :(

@Hatch - Quite likely, yes.

@Jeremy - NZ wasn't even good enough for convicts o:

Quite possibly, they're all descended from convicts y'kow D:

They should all drop 'U's from the language and spell things with too many 'Z's

I'm an American and so am frightened by foreign cultures. In fact... are you by any chance a terrorist?

I was only slightly offended by the "u"

user
skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 11/10/2009 05:40

Well...yes, is this a problem?

The spelling of the word 'colour' is determined by whoever wrote the challenge; in this case it was written by me, and being an Australian I naturally used the Australian English spelling. Both spellings (color and colour) can be  considered equally correct, so whichever the writer considers to be correct is the one which is used.

Anyway, apologies if my usage of the letter 'u' has offended anyone (!)

user
sapphira83 (Level 4 Button Man) @ 11/9/2009 11:26

vampireslug (Level 5 Detective) @ 11/9/2009 08:24

I'm going to give this one a shot... I figure as long as I avoid pillow shading I'll be doing pretty well. :)

It's certainly going to be weird to see a lot of the same creatures showing up in the gallery this week.  I've always been a fan of her work.

user
skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 11/9/2009 07:27

Nope. Keep the lineart the size that it's at.

user
hotnikkelz (Level 1 Rookie) @ 11/9/2009 07:26

Can I shrink the SIZE of the monster, but maintain the canvas size? As it is right now, the monsters are really big for the canvas size to allow much background....unless that's the point of the challenge heh

user
onek (Level 6 Hitman) @ 11/9/2009 07:18

awesome linearts! O_O

user
dumbo (Level 4 Mercenary) @ 11/9/2009 06:45

Each of those are very well created! Nice characters indeed!

user
Hapiel (Level 11 Admiral) @ 11/9/2009 00:43

If you have to make a background, it is very annoying that the creature would have to stay that centered. Why are we not allowed to enlarge the canvas? :(
