Mistress-Jaeden (PJ gallery) has recently posted a message stating she will step down from being Pixel Art Gallery Moderator at deviantArt, as a result there is a new position available. If you are at all interested in representing pixel art over at dA, then why not have a look over here for further information on how to apply.

i was talking about Daily Deviations too, understanding exactly what you mean because I have raged hard too at some point at the choosen DDs and the reasons behind they being choosen. and you should totally make your sugestion and inquires to armaina instead that posting them here(not like posting them here is bad or that they are wrong). but just like any human-powered system, it relies entirely on the feedback its users can have. its not like she will reject them, in fact, i'm p sure she always wonders why people never contacts GD's directly instead of using all sorts of non-direct ways such as blogs, journals, or even this article.
I'm not talking about the general quality of the gallery, I'm talking about the daily deviations. The stuff that ends up on the front page and accrues thousands of favorites simply for being there. The gallery mod should DEFINITELY look over THAT stuff before they okay it! Non-pixel-art should not be chosen for a pixel-art DD.
can't blame armaina for not inspecting every single piece that gets through. same happens here on PJ with our mods. point is that instead of throwing rocks for every mistake someone makes, just lend a hand and point out what the problem is. after all thats how the community part of being a community works.
or what, you'd turn yor back on me if i make a mistake? we're all humans and the issue of being a GD is nothing but a volunteer doing as best as he/she can.
No! Don't leave! Armaina is terrible! I saw a Daily Deviation that wasn't remotely clean pixel art at a glance featured by her. On closer inspection it had over 8000 colors, and those weren't all just from JPEGishness.
I'll totally vote Metaru though. At least I know he's competent. And that's way more than I can say about most of the people who do pixel art on DA and have yet to make their way over here.

also, its not an issue of deserving it. i am not in any way more qualified than anyone else, nor its a prize(nor sadly depends on a popular choice). although i asked jaeden in some sort of umprofesioal and completely wrong way(wink included) to send a recomendation towards myself.
also i love pixels.
