This week marks 15 years since the Japanese release of the Virtual Boy, Nintendo's first foray into stereoscopic 3D handhelds. Therefore, we want to see what you can create using the Virtual Boy restrictions shown below; can you make a red-tinted masterpiece mock-up for this ill-fated system?
Remember: As it is a big canvas, you may want to consider breaking the image up into tiles.
Also, here's a nice example by Scruffs of a VB mock-up, if you need some inspiration.
Canvas Size - Exactly 384 (width) x 224 (height).
Colours - Exactly 4. Use only the colours from this palette:
plese make sure you are using the exact colours shown above.
Transparency -No.
Animation - Optional.
UPS ! Creo Que Tengo Que Iniciar de nuevo : s no entendía Muy bien El Reto.
gracias
gracias
Do we have to use all four colors? I'll probably end up using all of them for AA-ing, but so far my submission-to-be has used only two of the colors.
You sure can! Just have a frame delay of a few seconds so we can see each screen.
{ But... Is it allowed to make with frames, right? one per screen?
No. But you can enter twice (or as many times as you like).
{ May I show two or more screens of the game in the same submission?
@skamocore
thanks ^_^
i'm a novice here, that's why dont know all these details.
where i can to upload work to this challenge?
@vicodin - nothing actually needs to be in 3D; essentially, all that's needed is a mock-up using those four colours on a 384 x 224 canvas. Tiles = smaller blocks which the image is made up of; for example, in this image, the lower half shows the tiles that the top half is created from. breaking things into tiles is just a suggestion, as it's a big canvas size. You don't need to use tiles.
i didn't understand... please say, do we must to make 3d scene of any game like in example? only 3d?
and what mean that we must to break into a tiles?
*sorry for bad english, i'm from Russia
It's right here in this homebrew programming manual: http://www.goliathindustries.com/vb/download/vbprog.pdf
Any size; it's merely a suggestion. You can follow actual VB limitations as rigidly as possible, just as long as it fits the restrictions given by the challenge rules.
@Morganne - awesome, pity you didn't keep them though D:
I owned two of these untill last year. I miss them dearly.
...they could very well be partially responsible for my poor eyesight. Even though I only played with 'em for about a week :o
If we use tiles to break the image, there's a size to follow or we are free to use any size?
I'm pretty sure it couldn't. Source?
Edit: Anyway, regardless, these are the colours to be used for this challenge. I didn't realise that, if it is true.
I'd like to note that the VB could only show 4 shades at any one time, but you could choose from a range of 32 shades.
Virtual Boy.. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
