PJ member Tyvon has been working on a project that is finally available for pre-order!
Navigator is a 2D puzzle game for the PC (Windows Phone 7 coming soon). Navigator mixes a platforming elements with classic block puzzle games to create a unique experience. All of the in-game graphics and animations are created by Tyvon, except some assets by collaborator, fellow artist and buddy Joe Ryan.
How Do You Play?
In Navigator, blocks are fired from the top of the screen from a Block Cannon into a 10x15 playing field in four different colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. Matching 4 colors or more will create a "cluster" which will clear that portion of the field.
Depending on the placement of the player's blocks, destroying a cluster can set off a chain of clusters that duplicate the amount of points the player gets.
While controlling the Block Cannon, the player is also controlling a small avatar in the playing field, that the player must move around, avoiding the Punishment Area (top of the field) by using the character's unique abilities to avoid hazards and keep themselves alive.
When the player reaches the top of the playing field, the game is over.
Navigator features an Endless Mode (the game doesn't end until you lose), a Competitive Mode (unique spins on the normal game meant for 2-4 players), a Puzzle Mode (specially built block puzzles that have to be solved before the player is squished), and will support network play in a few months. The initial release of Navigator will be an offline release, but we will be working on a huge expansion to the game after release that will include online mode and many, many extra bonuses.
Navigator can be preordered via Desura. The selling price is $4.99 but if you preorder before October 1, 2011, you get 10% off. (It's not huge, but it's something!)
By preordering, you get access to the "Navigator Preorder Beta," which is a special version of Navigator that is updated live as the rest of the game is finalized. New content will be added weekly/bi-weekly until Navigator's official release on October 22, 2011!
Go pick up your preorder of Navigator and enjoy the preorder beta!
