Challenge winner, Finlal, wants you to create an image using only the randomly-chosen colours from the palette shown below.
Canvas Size - Exactly 130 x 221. Either horizontal or vertical.
Colours - Min 4; Max 16. Use only colours from this palette:
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.
Blue is rare because easily modifiable by yellow/red
My mind is blown by comments on greens.
Green is the color I use least and almost always feel forced to add to my palettes.
I find greys in pixel palettes make up for all the greens one could ever want...interesting.
The abundace of greens makes sense, as green takes up a large portion of the spectrum, and I guess the abundance of purples is just due to the bague definition we have for purple. What stumps me is why blue seems so rare...
It really likes pinks and purples, clearly
If you're interested, the colours were picked by Finlal using Random.org's colour picker (the output from Random.org). Probably the most reliable way to generate random colours.
If I were to throw out a guess, I'd say it probably has a lot to do with how we think about colours / colour names. 'Green' is used to describe a significantly larger range of colours than, say, orange or yellow. I suppose the same goes for 'purple', but to a lesser extent.
I might know why...I just wanna make ppl think about it! ;)
No way D: I had a small sprite going...
There are reasons to this dawn, the way the random picker is made is one ;)
Have you noticed how random palettes often appear to be dominated by green & purple!?...
The challenge has been updated.
The canvas must be exactly (not maximum) 130 x 221. Sorry for the mix-up.
UnFinlalable.
For context, have a look at these three challenges.
Maybe it's time to dust my pixel art skills and give this challenge a try... I feel very rusty
