Wow great, no more using grafx2 for animations for me. 

I'll have to guess that it didn't make that much money anyway, so they released it for free. 

While I already have a full version it is great to see that all the features are now available to everyone!

I'm excited to finally get to play around with all the features!

Can't say for sure, but from the looks of things, the software is still actively maintained.

Why did it became freeware? Will it stop being maintained?

This is pretty cool! Looks like I may be using this in conjunction with Pyxel Edit (well, I was thinking of getting side software anyway), but we'll see :)
