CHALLENGE: April Featured Gallery

Welcome to the real 5th April Fools Gallery challenge.

After a year's break, we've changed things around a little; this year, we're asking you to create a piece of pixel art in the style of one of PJ's featured pixel artists. So pick one of the following artists:

• Jinn
• Stickman
• Syosa
• iLKke
• Adarias
• Gas13
• Buloght
• Fool
• Jalonso
• nvision

then create a piece based on what you've learned about their techniques, background, inspirations, etc... from reading their interview and browsing their gallery.

No list of restrictions this week; pick what restrictions are appropriate for your chosen artist. Just make sure your entry is entirely your own work and that you name the pixel artist you are attempting to emulate in your description.

CHALLENGE RULES

• Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
• Only new pixels allowed.
• Open to all members.
• Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

• Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
• Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
• Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

• Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
• Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
• 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
• No matter what happens you get challenged :)

Here's what I've done so far :


Can you already tell the artist I am trying to emulate ?

I dont know its not you style.

I have two questions...

1 - Can we copy the palettes of the artists? (I think it belongs to their own style I want to emulate...)

2 - Can we adapt the work we were working on until today to the challenge?

Yes, but I think the simple act of choosing the right colors is an art. I would not steal the merit to another artist without his allowance.

But in this case I'll do it...

Theme: The Goonies. No doubt youll see Sloth here. Along is One Eyed Wiggles..Me..Surely the pirate is better known as One Eyed Willie in the movie. HaHa, joke, funny...Saw a few stamp pieces in iLKke's collection. Thought I'd incorperate that in here with willie trying to eat it. Still have alot more to do with this.

I have to agree with Jeremy. Why don't you try to bring the green up?

WoW, thanks you all !! Sure I will do it. My grass was not working because all the colors on my pic are 10, and he uses just like 5 for a single square ;) thanks I will bring up the green.

I'm going to make a Fool's mountain mockup...



I don't like clouds very much, I'll change it...

It's still a WIP though.

I am inspired by the anime style sprites of Jinn, though I couldn't make a palette like him and shade like that, so I will need help of you guys make it better :)

That's very pretty. Maybe you should try to raise the saturation a bit to make it more fool-ish



Also Fool doesn't often use such dark colors I think
