@Club Beuker, which is the final one?
![]() I gotta say, I dunno if the fountain looks good. Maybe its better with the carving you had on there. The person is nice but gets lost being the same color as everything else. Add a tiny bit of color. Did you miss Dawnbringer's latest post about the palette...good post. @zwooll, nice idea, not very 'underground' tho. My crit for you is that the stars don't really break the grid at all. It's still a diamond shaped tile. Maybe you can erase most of the stars, or enough of them to break the pattern? One solitary figure riding a horse/camel/creature into the horizon would make the tile stand out maybe, think about that. One other thing is that nothing in your tile marks it as isometric. Maybe the road should define the perspective as isometric. Else, the galaxy can be isometric. So, nice tile and idea but its not reading as isometric. These are crits and not orders, others may have different opinions. ![]() @Zenobia, is the tile in the main image your final tile? Are you still in WIP mode? @ All, no more single floating tiles. You must have a neighbor from now on. Note to self: Update to main list and image to this point. Edited by jalonso - 15 September 2010 at 6:04am |

Final piece:
![]() Removed the spike + person. @Jalonso, yes I've read her post and tried it.. But failed miserably. I just get blodges of blue and green which don't look good. I'm eager to see a quick edit of my piece so I can see how to implement the green and blue, since it gives me a headache.. |

You are right that isometric art does not have a sky but some exceptions or tweaking of that rule does exist. This tile is an outer edge so breaking the mold can work as some degree of creative license. Its a visual thing sometimes, 'does it read right?'. I think if you look at that tile on its own and did not know its for an isometric project you'd never call it iso as nothing uses the grid at all. I love breaking iso grids but something must remain somehow. I thought the road could be used for that.
Anyhoo, as far as your tile is concerned I like your original better than this last update. The hiroglyphic carving is more interesting than the fountain thing. E: ![]() Its a rough edit but notice all the greens and added blues ;) Like the first version better. Fountain is kinda lame. You are kinda pecking like a chicken to place pixel. Be more precise in their placement...sculpt with pixels. @zwooll, no you can work on your tile as you have been. I posted that note after you and some have already been working on pieces. It will ruin the project if there are too many starting points. Edited by jalonso - 15 September 2010 at 8:30am |

Damn I really don't understand how you guys/girls know where to place your pixels.
![]() Still heavy WIP the wall needs contrast near the Balrog and both Balrog and wizard are completely unreadable still. I'm falling over myself to make both apparent. Still need to finish some of the ground and small chunk of the large waterfall. |

@inphy, body looks weird but the hat is perfect. I forgot I had fiddled with it in this edit I made earlier and never mentioned the snowman. Your hat is waaaaay better but my body has a more iso line.

Jal can you add those 90% completed tiles such as Zch, Reo, a3um, jakerpot's? It would be easier for people to pick tiles.
And first WIP for tile 35. ![]() Gonna make walls older, add sand around, maybe some moss and some people. @Dpixel: it seems its going to rock major asses. Edited by Gecimen - 15 September 2010 at 9:30am |

@dpixel,
@All, I actually was thinking that all outside pink tiles can break outside their template a little bit if needed to break the edges. If agreed, I'll revise the rules to allow this. |

@Gecimen, I thought of doing that but I'm afraid some will make their tiles based on what's there and then it doesn't match once the WIPers finish their tile. I am hoping people see the second post on page 1 to see which tiles are currently reserved. Its up to everyone if they like your way better tho.

The red lines were not for you, that's what I was showing your neighbor. I didn't object to your lines being off as its a decayed building. So is that a final?

Oh, don't worry, I understood you meant the snowman. :) It (take 2) felt like a good idea at the time but it looks pretty bad now. Thanks for the example. And yeah, if it's acceptable as iso then it's final.

@Club Beuker, you did a fine job, its added now. I corrected the 2 grey pixels for you :)
Finished my tile for now. I added some secondary lighting to the area. The black hole Reo left me was very challenging and I may revisit that spot later. ![]() @Mars Hausegen, I know you were one of the first to complete a tile but I just noticed you have 2 extra colors. Will you please re-visit your tile to correct that. It would be cool if you also blend the edges to your neighbors a little more. The creature gets lost and needs further definition too. See the kraken, you don't have to outline it like that is, just define it some, thx :) ![]() Edited by jalonso - 16 September 2010 at 6:47am |
