The first book MFlanaga ever got as a kid was a big orange one filled with nursery rhymes. Before he could even read he drew in the cover of the book, and his first drawing was some skribbled hands holding some whacked-out video game controller with about 85 buttons. It connected up to a screen where some spiky haired stick figures were jumping around swinging swords...
And that's because he's obsessed with video games. NES and SNES particularly, but he's played an uncountable amount of RPGs in his days and is inspired mostly by the dot art of games such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Mother (Earthbound). He especially likes shooting games on the PC (Counter-Strike, Battlefield), and almost all genres excluding point-and click adventures (except for Clocktower... oooh scary fun) and math based puzzle games.
He's fairly new to the pixel art world, getting started making graphics for the only BYOND game he enjoys: Final Fantasy Online. It is a fan-game, but only because it uses the graphics and spells from Final Fantasy 1. It will soon have its own spell names and graphics. The rest of the game is very different from FF. (Think Diablo and Guild Wars with some RTS and domain vs. domain elements thrown in)
He's a very laid back dude with doodles and mangled sketchbooks thrown around all over his room. He lives in Alabama but doesn't have any particular accent. He loves tequila and beer and nice people.
