I picked two colors and started shading with clumps and then globs and then dots and then I went back to globs. About then my wrist was tired so I kept it only a few colors. I looked at the linked pic often and tried to recreate the crevices and highlights. The black shadows I just improv'd because I wanted it to be smiling for a change. I can't really explain any further. I think my canvas was too big to use the palette well...
