thanks for the thoughtful response, crab2selout. yea, it was from a while ago.. but i naturally tend to just go with low saturation.. like my pieces always end up with low saturation, and i usually have to make the effort to make them more contrasty if i thik it needs it.. thats the way its always been for me. But after a while of always intentionaly making things contrasty(because everyone thinks that is how it should be normally due to the beliefs around what makes a great game in the art aspect), I was like.. whatever, lets just try working the low saturation angle.. You have to have balance with thigns i guess, so more recently, im trying to mesh the two.. its always a constant experiment for me when it comes to art I guess..

I love the fact that the liquid is yellow-orange(you don't see that color liquid too often, unless you're peeing, lol), that takes some creativity, though maybe its just because the creature is purple and so its complimentary ;P

wowz, this is pure wickedness.. only gripe i'd have is with the fish thing, i believe it's pose could be better, it doesnt share the same 3 dimensional qualities as the others. The dragon, hawk, and mouse are the best of the 6, i'm lovin them.

I probably wont post anymore of my older works, I want to start making newer things. I'm working on something, ill post it up when I have it finished.

overly contrasty things tend to look unrealistic to me, and I'm assuming the trend to be contrasty is partly due to readability on screens and games, etc.. art doesnt need to be constrasty, there are many reasons why things would have lower constrast, some of which i dont even fully understand myself, i tend to be more intuitive with how i feel out my artwork. this here was just a natural result of my creativity. ideally in a more artistic situation, youd want to make your constrast count to help focus certain parts of a piece that are important, etc.. but there could be other more technical reasons such as atmosphere and lighting, etc which you are trying to express..

basically took some coordinates of key features and then pieced it from that, definately not a trace.
