He's (very roughly) based on an ostrich, he's supposed to be as tall as an adult man but way stronger and with a much bigger head and a deadly jaw. Well he's a vegetarian so the "deadly" jaw is only deadly to you, if you happen to be a plant or a fruit. (16 colors, the working title was "Baumvieh" and I want to take the opportunity here to again give a big THANKS for all the C+C to everyone who commented in the wip thread) updated May 18th 2006: The more I looked at it, the more I grew unhappy about the palette, so I made some changes to it. Also changed the small file to use it as my avatar. updated Jun 6th 2007: Small file is back to the original small file and uses the original palette.

I saw this piece earlier and loved it instantly. You made exceptionally good use of this palette, and both the lineart and colouring are top-notch. Plus I have a thing for odd concepts, so... 5/5 for definite.

I love the vivid dithering and texture this has. The colours are very tantalising and the background is very dream-like. I like the border too :)

Such a strange palette, but expertly applied. Surreal content is a plus! Great variety of technique too, from the little texture elements in the fur and bark to the regular dithering on his skin and the tidy outlining of the clouds. I like it a lot.
